For BGAs.

Case-prep depth for brokerage general agents and case managers placing complex life cases. Reads the trust, the existing illustrations, the beneficiary forms, and the estate plan the policy is meant to fund — and surfaces the underwriting story before submission.

Where this fits

The cases that don't fit a one-page summary.

A high-face case is sitting on the desk — and the ILIT funding history is a folder of Crummey notices nobody has read end-to-end. The illustration looks fine in isolation, but the trust it funds has a contradiction the carrier is going to find on review. The advisor's case-prep packet is thin, and you need a defensible underwriting narrative before you walk it to the carrier.
Why a depth layer earns its keep

BGAs already do the hard work of fitting cases to carriers. The bottleneck isn't carrier knowledge — it's reading the surrounding plan well enough to defend the structure.

The depth layer reads the actual instruments, reconciles them, and returns a structured finding set you can hand to the case manager, the producing advisor, or the underwriter.

A submission that survives review is a submission backed by something an underwriter can read.

Where SC drops in

Three points in the case lifecycle.

No client questionnaire. No fact intake. We work from the documents on the case file and return a structured set you can build the submission around.

Workflow 01

Case prep depth.

Full case review reads the trust, the policy structure, the beneficiary chain, and the estate plan together. Returns the case story with citations — what the underwriting narrative needs to address up front.

Default deliverable Full Case Review — case file + advisor memo + debrief
Workflow 02

Pre-submission scoping.

Before you walk a complex case to a carrier, run a founder-reviewed brief on the surrounding plan. Surface contradictions and structure gaps that would be flagged on review — and frame the response.

Default deliverable Founder-Reviewed Brief — pre-submission scoping
Workflow 03

Quick scope check.

If you just need to check whether a case has structural surprises before committing time, the Question Scan is a lower-friction entry point. Internal screening, not a client deliverable.

A sample finding

One card. The case story up front.

The canonical finding card. Severity, domain, what we know, what we don't, the recommended next step, and the citation behind it. Findings without citations don't ship.

Crummey notice gap on three premium years risks gift-tax inclusion.

Premium contributions to the ILIT for tax years 2020, 2022, and 2024 do not have corresponding Crummey notices in the trust file. Without contemporaneous notices, the contributions risk being treated as future-interest gifts ineligible for the annual exclusion — and the policy proceeds risk inclusion in the gross estate.

What we know

ILIT created 2018, funded by annual premium contributions through the grantor's checking account. Notices on file for 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023. Missing for 2020, 2022, 2024. Combined contributions for those three years: $108,000. Policy face: $5M.

What we don't know

Whether notices were issued and not retained, whether they were not issued at all, and whether the trustee has communications that would substantiate constructive notice. The 709 filing posture for the missing years.

Recommended next step

Reconstruct trustee communications for the missing years and confirm the 709 filing history. If the gap cannot be substantiated, work with counsel on remediation before the case is presented to the underwriter — the inclusion risk affects the planning premise the case rests on.

A finding the underwriter would surface on review is a finding the case manager wants to surface first.

Bring one case you're about to submit.

A 30-minute working session on a real case file. We'll walk a finding set end-to-end so you can see what the underwriting narrative would lead with.
